Ikoku Market Chairman Slumps, Dies in PH
The Chairman of Port Harcourt Spare Parts Dealers Union, High Chief Anthony Alaribeole’s slumped during a meeting of the executive body of the association in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Secretary of the body, Nnamdi Amadikwa confirmed the incident to The Vortex in his office at the Spare Parts Market.
The Secretary stated that the family of the deceased chairman had met with the Union on the matter adding that a date for his burial will be announced.
The vice chairman of the union, Prince Don Uche expressed sadness at the death of the chairman and explained that he was not at the meeting where the chairman slumped and could therefore not give details of what transpired at the meeting.
He however commended the leadership qualities of the late Alaribeole stating that the union will give him a befitting burial.
According to reports, Chief Alaribeole who doubles as the chairman of all line chairmen in the market was presiding over the exco meeting of the union he called to resolve the lingering crises in the executive body when he slumped and has rushed to a hospital where he was confined dead.
There are indications that the late chairman and some of his exco members had a running battle over allegations of fraud.
However, the late chairman Alaribeole had in a chat with The Vortex on the allegation few weeks before his death denied any financial irregularities..
He had also refuted allegations that he sidelined some members of the exco in the running of the Union.
