He Is Chairman In Waiting -Ex-envoy
The campaign train of Barrister Vincent Nemieboka, Chairmanship candidate of PDP in Ogu/Bolo for the forthcoming Local Government Election paid a solidarity campaign visit to the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs (ODCC) at their secretariat in Ogu.
The Leader of the delegation, Senator George Thompson Sekibo who is the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District said the PDP in the LGA has selected men and women of character that will take the LGA to a greater height, and described Nemieboka as the most capable candidate for the restructuring and remodelling of Ogu/Bolo LGA.
He said that although Barrister Nemieboka is from Ele, he has worked for the development of Ogu and in Ogu/Bolo politically and has served as a leader during the SDP and NRC era.
According to him, he was also instrumental in the creation of Ogu/Bolo LGA working with the likes of Chiefs A.C. Iyaye, M.D. Nemieboka and A. W. Alamina where he served as the Secretary of the committee. He was the one that strengthen the committee members and kept pushing until the aim was achieved.
He said, seeing that the LGA is not achieving its purpose, the PDP decided to bring in Nemieboka due to his wealth of experience to help in relaying the foundation of the LGA.
Senator Sekibo lauded Governor Nyesom Wike for his support to the LGA. andformally introduced Barrister Vincent Nemieboka as the PDP Candidate for Ogu/Bolo in the forthcoming Local Government Election.
In his remark, Barrister Nemieboka reiterated his respect for the Chieftaincy institution, stating that he would partner with them if he becomes the LGA Chairman.
He promised among other things to correct the wrongs in the LG council especially the issue of over staffing which has affected the allocation of the LGA and the execution of developmental projects, and also resolve security issues such as the Wakama and Kporgor communal crisis and the land dispute between Ogu and Ele, stating that without peace there is no development.
He introduced his Vice Chairman, Mrs Eunice Alabo who is a Health-care expert and the 12 Councillorship Candidates from the wards.
Responding on behalf of the ODCC, Chief LT Williams Tuboibo-Iyama, said he has not heard any political candidate vying for any office talk so confidently about his plans for the community, adding that it is an indication that Barrister Vincent Nemieboka will perform well.
He affirmed the blessings of the Chiefs and their willingness to work with him if voted into office and thanked the PDP in Ogu/Bolo for according them the respect they deserved.
In his vote of thanks, Chief S.M.K. Taribo-Amgbara described Barrister Vincent Nemieboka as chairman-in waiting noting that his candidacy cuts across party lines.
He said as the first Secretary of the committee for the creation of Ogu/Bolo LGA, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka worked passionately and patriotically and expressed joy to see him contest as Chairman in a Local Government he worked so hard to be created.
