…Community Lists Victims of Attacks

The cases of killings, abductions and attacks at Eteo in Eleme Local Government Area is now a source of worry to the people of Ogu Kingdom.

Chairman of Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, (ODCC) Chief Spiff Micah Taribo-Amgbara at a press briefing in Ogu expressed grief over the recent killing of an illustrious son Mr. Godknows Opuda Owuso on September 1, 2020 at Eteo, describing it as one too many.

The Ogu Chiefs Council Chairman recalled that on June 15, 2014, one Mr. Ellison Amiso was seized by hoodlums at the same axis but was saved by a Good Samaritan who recognized him as the elder brother of his Ogu friend, while on September 7, 2019, Mr. Alapu Iworima Iboms had machete cuts along the same area when he was returning to Ogu.

He also stated that on January 4, 2020, Miss Agnes Jiabiri was inflicted with machete cuts together with the motorcycle (Okada) rider at Eteo, and that although she survived but the cyclist died on the spot, while Miss Blessing Tamunosiki Amapakabo died of machete injuries she sustained on her way to Ogu from Trailer Park on January 6, 2020 as the ‘Okada’ man narrowly escaped with injuries.

Chief Taribo-Amgbara also recalled that on March 22, 2020, Chief Alwell Imbu-Apina, a retired Director of Rivers State Hospitals Management Board was abducted at gun-point opposite the Secondary School at Eteo but was released by the kidnappers after almost two weeks of horrendous ordeal in their evil den.

He noted that whenever such provocative incidents occurred, they deemed it fit to report to the law enforcement agents and also confer with neighbours in order to obtain redress and sustained a peaceful environment.

He reiterated that the leadership and people of Ogu kingdom have from time immemorial adopted and pursued a policy of friendship, co-operation and understanding with their neighbours.

Chief Taribo-Amgbara reiterate their appeal to the security agencies to intensify their investigations and bring to justice the culprits of these dastardly act in order to serve a s deterrents to other criminals and also encourage the commuters that would ply that route on daily basis.
