Umuebulu Stool Tussle: Why Gov. Wike Should Intervene
The Ochumba of Umuebulu Community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH, Eze Augustine Okechukwu Njoku has called on the Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike to come to the aid of the community and resolve the protracted chieftaincy tussle in the community.
Eze Njoku who described himself as the authentic Paramount Ruler of the community said anybody claiming to be the Traditional Ruler in the area is an impostor and a pretender to the throne.
Speaking to newsmen in his palace in Umuebulu, Eze Njoku buttressed his claims with documents of recognition from the highest traditional institution of Etche led by Eze E.N. Opurum.
He stated that recent judgment of a State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Suzzette Wike, affirmed his status as the authentic Traditional Ruler and Ochumba of Umuebulu Community, adding that none of the claimants to the throne in the community has challenged the judgment in any Court of law.
He said Governor Wike needs to wade into the crises and resolve it to preserve the peace of the community, and alleged constant threat to his life by his opponents who he accused of colluding with a foremost Traditional Ruler to create confusion to the community.
On who controls the royalties due the community, Eze Njoku expressed dismay at the oil giant Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) who he alleged is also contributing to the crises in the community, adding that the oil company uses divide and rule in its dealing with the community.
He explained that Shell has been dealing with unauthorized person in the community in sharing the resources due to community.
