RSG Not In Contention For Exclusive List – Nsirim
The Rivers State Government said its decision against the Carveton Helicopters was squarely on ensuring the safety of people of the state against the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, who addressed the Press in Port Harcourt, hinted the pilots and the 10 helicopter passengers were nabbed because the airline had continually broken Wike’s Executive Order against the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
He stressed that before the government placed order on the airline, the company had brought in more than 220 crew into the state without following the necessary routine health protocol to ascertain their COVID-19 status.
Nsirim said: “different from the speculation being spread by the Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, the two pilots of Carveton Helicopters and their 10 crew onboard were not nabbed because they had a permit given to them by the Ministry of Aviation but because they didn’t follow proper health check. his issue has nothing to do Exclusive List at all.
He said, “we have Carveton Helicopters and every single operator in our state to obey the laws of the state by submitting themselves to Coronavirus tests to be sure of their status. Governor Nyesom Wike said 6million people in the state under my watch should be protected health-wise. For instance, Federal Government has placed the Chinese Doctors who arrived in the country on a 14-day quarantine before being allowed to mingle with Nigerians.”
“If F.G could do that, why does it now want people to come into Rivers State without a health check? There is no doubt that the said pilot want to compromise the health of Rivers State and why is FG sponsoring publications to mislead Nigerians on this issue?”, he asked.
He emphasized that Governor Nyesom Wike was not in any manner trying to hijack the duties in the Exclusive List with the Federal Government as being argued in some quarters.
