Missing Patrol Van, Gunboat …PCRC Alerts Area Commander

The Eleme Area Commander of Nigeria Police, ACP Martins Nwoguh has assured members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogu Police Division of collaboration for better community policing.

ACP Nwoguh who gave the assurance during his familiarization visit to the Division, Thursday said PCRC members as the core in community policing, would not be molested and enjoined them to use their membership in line with the objectives of the founding fathers.

According to him, as friends of the police that have sworn to serve humanity, they should help the police avert crime with timely information and whatever assistance, to encourage them carry out their duties professionally and commended the PCRC of Ogu Division for supporting the Police in the area.

The commander called on DPOs under the command to ensure that they work in synergy with members of PCRC for effective policing, directed that all DPOs and PCRC Exco members should attend the monthly PCRC meetings at the Area Command to share ideas for improved services.

In his response, the chairman of PCRC Ogu Police Division, Sir Faithful Onumodu Dagogo-Abaji welcomed the new Area Commander and also reiterated that members will always do their best to help the police perform their duties effectively for the people of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area to sleep well.

Sir Dagogo-Abaji highlighted some of their assistance to the Division, but noted that the Operation Sting Patrol Van and Gunboat given to the division by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike were yet to be seen, adding that this was causing security threat with increased sea piracy, crime and kidnapping as a Chief was recently kidnapped.

In his remarks, Secretary of Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Anthony Ibifuro-Tamunonime thanked the Area Commander for the visit.

He harped on some security challenges facing the area, and called on the Police authorities to take urgent attention before the matter is taken to the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.

Earlier in a lecture with the ranks and file of the police in the Division, ACP Nwoguh opined that after assuming duty on March 17, 2020, he decided to familiarize himself with all the Divisions under his command.

He also lectured on weapons handling and how to prevent the Coronavirus pandemic by adhering to all health measures and government order.

ASP Otunte Moses was appointed as Provost of the Division to further instill discipline.
