Obio/Akpor Council Earmarks N6.7billion for 2020
Obio/Akpor Local Government Council is to initiate at least one development project in each of the seventeen wards in the Local Government Area.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, who announced this today while presenting the 2020 appropriation bill of 6.7 billion naira to the Legislative Assembly, assured that attention would be given to all ongoing projects in the various communities.
According to Hon. Eke, the recurrent estimates is about 4.4 billion naira while capital expenditures is about 2.3 billion naira.
He said the Local Government had adopted a new revenue collection process to block leakages and raise its internally-generated revenue to over 1 billion naira this year in order to have additional funds for different projects and called for the continued support of the legislators to enable the council meet the collective aspiration of the people.
Responding, Leader of Obio/Akpor Legislative Assembly, Hon. Nelson John, expressed the appreciation of members to the Chairman for initiating people-driven projects and programmes in the area and urged the executive to speed up the completion of the ongoing legislative complex.
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, has also signed into bye-laws eight bills passed by the Legislative Assembly for the smooth running of the council area.
The bills include: Obio/Akpor Local Government Accountability bye-law, 2019, Obio/Akpor Security Task Force bye-law, Establishment of Obio/Akpor Revenue Committee, and Obio/Akpor Neighbourhood Corps Committee bye-law.
