Commissioner Inaugurates Rebuilt NUJ Bush Bar
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim has inaugurated the refurbished Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bar at the Ernest Ekoli Press Centre, Moscow Road Port Harcourt.
Pastor Nsirim who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Ibiwari Clapton-Ogolo while commissioning the edifice expressed delight with Eleno Investment Limited and the executive of the Union for their cordial relationship which had added value to their work.
Clapton-Ogolo noted that the Ministry is happy as they partner NUJ represent the for a good working relationship, and thanked all members of the Union for their support and co-operation with the union.
She reiterated that as an agent of government, they would support the union adding that the bar is first of its kind.
Also speaking, the South South Zonal Chairman of NUJ, Eddy Ogunde enjoined members of the Union to continue to support and co-operate with the Exco for more projects.
Ogunde enjoined members to abide by the ethics of the union, be committed and respect their integrity in their reportage, prayed God to bless Ezeno Investment Limited for rebuilding the bar for NUJ in the state.
In his speech, the representative of the Police Commissioner, ACP Bassey Ewah said the doors of the Police boss is wide open for everybody especially members of the pen profession and wished all journalists a blissful working relationship.
Also speaking, the chairman of Eleno Investment Limited, Chief Gomba Okanje said it is their gesture of love as they present the little token to support NUJ in the state and charged all Journalists to be proud in their noble profession though it is a thankless job but the light of the society.
Okanje reiterated that they are happy to associate with the union and expressed appreciation with the Exco as the project will be beneficial and enhanced members of to continued partnership with NUJ in the state.
Earlier, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr. Stanley Job Stanley expressed delight with the historic commissioning of the NUJ bush bar build by Eleno Investment Limited and recalled the deplorable condition of the former bar which Eleno had rebuild to specifications after the union approached them for assistance.
According to him, the singular act of Eleno of also furnishing the bar to its fullest is what regular companies could not do for the union, saying that the bar is one of the best in any NUJ Press Centre across Nigeria.
Stanley noted that with the commissioning, Journalists will now have a comfortable and befitting bush bar where they could wine and later act with their colleagues and friends of the media after the day’s work, and called on others to emulate Eleno as Journalists use their services to promote an egalitarian society.
