Councillor Empowers Over 300 In Ward 19
The councilor representing Ward 19 in Port Harcourt Local Government Council, Hon. Jenifer Dike Welle has organized empowerment programme for more than 300 members of the ward in the area.
At the event held at the Elekahia Civic centre over the weekend, Hon Dike Welle distributed several household items including Kerosene stove, food items and cash gifts to widows, elders, mothers and youth groups from the communities in the ward.
Addressing members of the ward and other guest who attended the event, Hon, Dike Welle said the event was organized to appreciate the ward members for their commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, adding that it was their support that gave her the opportunity to represent the ward at the city council.
Speaking to the media at the event, Hon. Dike Welle disclosed that she had equally been visiting orphanages, elders and community leaders and school with the area where she had given out cash and material assistance to the people, explaining that the gesture was her little way of saying thank you to the people of the ward. Some of the beneficiaries of the programme who spoke to the press at the event expressed appreciation to the law-maker, stating that the gesture was the first of its kind by any politician in the area.
