A coalition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups in Rivers State has pledged support to the state chairman of the party, Chief Felix Obuah, should he decide to vie for the governorship of the party in the state.
Chairman of the group, Hon. Edwin Ibibia Ibanichuka made the position of the group known in a chat at the event making the celebration of the 56 birthday of the chairman in Port Harcourt.
According to Hon. Ibanichuka, the coalition which is made up of over 455 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) of young politicians in the state will readily and massively lend its support to the PDP chairman if he decides to contest for the governorship position in the state.
The coalition Chairman who described Chief Obuah as a man of integrity stated that Chief Obuah having paid his dues in politics of Rivers State deserved a higher calling in politics of the state.
He said Chief Obuah was the only chairman of the party who has been able to win elections for the party for two connective tenures, adding that even when people expected the chairman to disagree with Governor Wike and possibly abandon the party, Obuah chose to stick and support the governor in the past eight years. “That is what all good politicians should be”, he stated.
He called onObuah to make up his mind and come forward and contest the governorship ticket of the party, assuring that his goodwill will always stand for him, and appealing to him to remember his group when he gets to the position.
The Organizing Secretary of the coalition Amb. Elder Nelson Gibo on behalf of the group congratulated the party chairman on his birthday celebration and reaffirmed the support of the group on his future ambition.
