Chiefs To Tackle Girls At Amanyanabo Novelty Match

As part of activities marking the coronation anniversary of the Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom, His Majesty, King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo, Loko IX, the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs will lock horns with women in a novelty football match.

According to a statement from the Palace of the Royal Father, the match will take place at the Ogu Mini Stadium (St Martin’s School Field), tomorrow Friday 20, 2019.

The statement indicates that the Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom, His Majesty King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo Loko IX will take the kick-off by 3.00 pm for the commencement of the game.

It also stated that some of the Chiefs expected to feature in the match will include the Chairman, Ogu Divisional Council Of Chiefs, Chief S. M. K. Taribo Amgbara, Chief Emmanuel Abbey Okekeya, Chief Francis Ada Ebenezer Onyie, Chief Bapakaye Orabere Okwuodu, Victor Nagibo and Chief Wiollioams Tubonibo Iyama.

Others are Chief Derrick Igbiks Anga-Kalaiyo, Chief Bapakauye Obaka Dabipi, Chief Justice Kienka Ofiomani, Chief (Brig-Gen) Woriboye Dick-Iruenabere (Rtd), and  Chief (Senator) George Thompson Sekibo.

The female team is expected to include Magrette Duke, Blessing Daso Derefaka, Barr. Christianah Tamunoberetonari among others.

Also as part of the anniversary, a boat regatta is expected to hold on Saturday morning while later in the day; there will be wrestling contests at the Amanyanabo’s Palace at Ogu.

The Vortex correspondent reports that the community is wearing festive look for the activities which will be rounded-off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday at St. Martins Anglican Church Ogu by 10.00 am. Reception will hold thereafter at the Amanyanabo’s Palace.
