Rivers Coaches Prepare For National Championship
The Rivers State Football Coaches Association have rounded off the 2019 end of year activities in the state with an appeal for financial support from individuals and organization towards executing some of the projects mapped out by the association.
Chairman of the association and Chief Coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma said such support will enable the association tackle some of their challenges.
Eguma specifically listed the provision of facilities for its office at the Elekahia stadium; and provision of an 18-seated bus for the smooth running of the affairs of the association.
He said equipping the office will enable the association have a befitting place to relax and analyze football matches comfortably during domestic and international matches.
Eguma said a lot has been done by the association in the area of capacity development of its members, and training and support of members on CAF license courses.
Chief Coach Eguma added that in preparation for the forthcoming national football caches championship billed for 2020, the association has embarked on the physical and mental training of its member.
In the football match played top at Elekahia Stadium top to rap up the event, Rivers Football association played a 1-1 draw will its Delta State counterpart.
Borikiri Streets Football Tourney Kicks-Off, Dec 15
Arrangements are in top gear for the kick-off of this year Borikiri Inter-street Football Competition.
According to a statement by the organizer of the competition, Coach Timothy Daniel, the tournament is expected to flag-off on December 15, 2015 with eight teams participating.
The statement further has it that the key objective of the encounter is to engage the youths positively not to indulge in anti-social vices before the festive season.
It stated that it would also curb youth restiveness as well as show case their God given talents since football had become a source of livelihood to many families in the world.
“Although, there is no sponsor as at the moment, but I am hoping and believing that before the end of the championship, some spirited individuals and sports lovers will come to my aid”, the statement noted, and appealed for sponsorship as the encounter would also help government and residence of the area for the youths who are the future leaders of the nation meaningfully engaged.
The tournament which will be played at Enitonia High School Field, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, also enjoined the youths that they are important as it is their opportunity to unleash their potentials as future stars of the state and the nation.
The streets that are expected to take part in the competition include Egbema, Etche, Rex-Lawson, Nembe, Ozubokor, Kolokuma, New Road and Sand-field among others.
