HOS, RVHA Task Journalists On Information Management
Rivers State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Rufus Godwin has challenged information officers and media practitioners to build capacity in order to be able to face the challenges of managing information in the new age.
Godwin who was the guest of honour at the training workshop and seminar for information officers organized by the State Ministry of Information and Communications in Port Harcourt, charge journalists to keep abreast with the changing trends in information management by embracing training and workshops to update their knowledge.
He advised media practitioners to avoid false reportage of events and unnecessary propaganda for pecuniary gains, stressing that such practice tends to tarnish the image of the profession.
The HOS said information officers in the various ministries of the state government must be ready to market and communicate government policies and programs to the people, as custodians of government information.
Chairman of Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Information and Training, Hon. Enemi Alabo George who chaired the event, called on the information officers to make use of the opportunity presented by the workshop to upgrade their skill, as according to him, the training will reposition them to market the state effectively.
Hon. George expressed the commitment the House of Assembly to continue to partner and support the Ministry of Information and Communication to discharge its responsibilities in the state.
