Rivers APC Crises Heats Up Again …As Abe’s Faction Seeks Suspension Of Amaechi
Former Attorney General of Rivers State during the Rotimi Amaechi Administration, Barrister Nworgu Boms has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take disciplinary action against the former Governor of the State and Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi over his support for the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate, Biokpoma Awara during the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Barrister Nwogu who was reacting to the recent protest by a group of APC supporters in Abuja, who called for the suspension of Senator Magnus Abe from the party over the suits filed against the proposed party congress of the party in the state, said rather than blaming Senator Abe for the woos of the party, the Minister of Transportation should be held responsible for infraction in the party.
According to the former AG, the former governor played anti party roles, frolicking with the AAC candidate without due consultation with members of the party in the state.
He said “If there is anybody to be suspended for anti party activities, it should be the minster of Transportation for his roles during the election in the state”.
Barr Nworgu while absolving Senator Abe from the legal suits instituted against the party during the party primaries and the recent proposed congress of the party stated that the court cases were filed against the party by some aggrieved members of the party who felt short changed on the activities of the party in the state.
Nworgu who is the Director General of the freedom house of the Magnus Abe faction of the party in the state, pointed out that for the Rivers APC to be reposition for peace, the party leadership at the national level must ensure thorough reconciliation of aggrieved members; adding that party members must be allowed to freely participate in activities of the party.
They legal practitioner however, urged that cases pending in the count should be allowed to be concluded, while all previous decision of the courts on the matter must be addressed; as according to him, that will provide the panacea for peace for the party in the state.
Meanwhile former publicity secretary of the state APC Mr. Chris Pynbone has however described as laughable the submission of the former Attorney General of the state, Barr Nworgu Boms n the crises in the party.
Pynbone wondered how Barr. Boms would now be seeking reconciliation of party members and at the same time suing the party in the courts on the same matter. He argued that the party would already moving forward in the state would not allow any individual to stop the train.
