Da Villa Estate Investors Cry Out ….As Police Release Director On Bail
More than 60 victims of the Da Villa Estate developer fraud in Port Harcourt, who may have been fleeced of millions of naira of their investment, have demanded for the refund of their money from the police.
The police command in the state during the week arrested the managing director of the firm also known as Lively Homes, Mr. Kenny Nworgu following a deluge of petitions forwarded to the Rivers State commissioner of police, CP Ahmed Dan Duara by customers over suspected fraudulent activities of owners of the estate company.
Reports said close to 70 persons had paid in huge, amounts of money running into million into the accounts of the firm who said no allocation of the promised lands made to them, several months after the payments were made.
Cp. Dan Daura who addressed some of the victims who besieged the police headquarters during the week, frowned at the activities of some estate developers in the state, and warned members of the public against falling prey to fraudulent estate developers who according to him, make factitious and enticing offers on electronic media, with intention to hoodwink unsuspecting publics.
The police boss also banned all sponsored adverts on radio and Televisions by the Da Villa Estate Developers, explaining that most of the people who paid in money for the estates did so on the basis of the bogus promises made by the company on the electronic media.
Some of the victims who narrated their ordeal in the transaction said they paid huge funds into the accounts of the firm for various plots of lands, allegedly situated in various communities outside Port Harcourt.
Other also said they had severally been asked to repot to a community near the airport for the allocation of lands in the estate located in the community but on each occasion, the MD of the company were either absent or give excuses. The victims, who expressed their disappointment on the turnout of events, are however demanding for the refund of movies paid to the company.
The Vortex recalls that Da Villa Estate Developers also known as Lively Homes has been a vocal voice on various media houses in Port Harcourt, appealing for people to investor on the estate and in some case promising to give a piece of land for free for every two or more plots bought by a customer.
Meanwhile, the police command in the state had earlier in the week said it has released the boss of the Da Villa Estate Developer on bail after he had signed an undertaking to refund the money collected from the victims within a period of three months.
