RSG Approves Funds For Schools
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said funds have been approved for the running of all government owned primary and secondary schools in the state for 2019 academic year.
Speaking at the commissioning of Seabed model primary school in Port Harcourt, Governor Wike stated that State Government provided the funds in line with the government free education policy in the state.
The governor warned school heads and teachers not to collect any form of levy in the schools, adding that any official of the school caught extorting money from pupil or parents will have themselves to blame.
According to the state chief executive, government investment in education was to ensure that children in the state get the best quality of facilities needed for conducive education.
Wike said without education, there can be no human capital development, stating that the reconstruction and expansion of the seabed primary school, was in fulfillment of his promise to the church during a ceremony in the church in 2018.
Venerable, Saturday Nbeke, who spoke to newsmen after the event expressed appreciation to the Governor for the gesture, emphasizing that the remodeling of the school, has provided a conducive learning environment for the children.
Venerable Nbeke said the church will continue to pray for the governor and the state for peace and stability in the state, emphasizing that while it is the duty of the church to focus on the development of the character and spiritual wellbeing of the child, the school is established to provide physical intellectual development.
