Ignatius Bara: Dead Or Alive? …7Months After Abduction … CP Confirms Drop In Crime …Serial Killer Confesses 15 Murders

Six months after Hon. Ignatius Bara Ephraim was taken away by unknown gunmen during the February 23 presidential elections in Andoni local government area of Rivers State, the whereabouts of the politician has remained a mystery.

Family sources said Hon Bara, popularly called IG by his admirers, who hails from Ajakajak town in the local government, was allegedly kidnapped on the day of the presidential election by some hoodlums who invaded his polling unit and took him away.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Emmanuel Mark, said the disappearance of their brother and son has caused severe trauma to the family noting that all efforts by the family to determine whether the politician was dead or alive has proved abortive.

He disclosed that the incident was reported to the Nigerian Police Area Command in Bori, Khana local government area and the state Criminal investigation Department, but nothing concrete has been done to ascertain the whereabouts of the victim, neither has anyone been arrested over the matter.

A female member of the family, who did not want her named in print told this medium that Hon. Ignatius Bara Ephraim was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state since 1999 till last year, 2018 when he joined his political mentor, former chairman of the LGA, Late Mowan Ettete Owoh to defect to the All progressive Congress (APC).

She expressed disappointment that politicians in the area have refused to speak out over the numerous kidnappings and murder of prominent people in the area, and called on state, federal government and the Nigerian police to intervene and ensure that perpetrators of the criminal acts are bought to book.

The vortex recalls that the Andoni local government area witnessed kidnappings and killings during and after the 2019 election in the area.

Apart from Hon. Ignatius Ephraim Bara whose fate is still unknown, Chief Mowon Owoh Ettete was brutally murdered while a former council chairman Hon. Mrs. Emilia Nte, was also abducted during the election.

Rivers state police public relations officer PPRO, Nnamdi Omono, who was contact on the matter, told The Vortex that investigations on the abduction and killing of Hon. Ignatuis Ephraim Bara, and Chief Mowan Etete are still ongoing stating however, that no arrest has been made.

The PPRO appealed for the general public to give credible information to the command to enable them apprehend those responsible for the dastardly acts.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command said there is a significant drop in rate crime in the state.

Commissioner of police in the state, CP. Mustapha Dan-Daura told newsmen in a briefing at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt, that the command has been able to stabilize the insecurity challenges that have plagued the East West Road in the state, adding that the crime wave of kidnapping along the Elele – Owerri Road and the recent killings in Khana and Gokanna local government areas of the state have dropped.

CP Daura, while commending his men for the achievements, said he will not be deterred or distracted by what he termed the “machinations of the 5th columnists”, who he stated do not want to see anything good in the state, but were bent on sponsoring smear campaign’s against the command.

Daura who paraded, Gracious David-West, a suspected serial killer added that three other suspects has been taken into custody in connection with the series of killings in hotels in the state.

He said the command will extend its investigations beyond the confessions of the suspects to ensure that a conclusive end is achieved on the matter.

The prime suspected serial killer, Gracious David-West who hails from Buguma in Asari Toru local government area, confessed to have murdered over 15 women in Lagos, Owerri, Ibadan and Port Harcourt, and other parts of the country.

He was apprehended by men of the Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) along the Ogoni axis of the East-West Road in the state.

Meanwhile, CP Dan-Daura has blamed the simmering insecurity in the state to the political rivalry between political gladiator in the state; and has urged politicians to unite in tackling the security challenges in the state.
