Elders Should Relinquish Leadership To Youths CDC Chairman
The Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman of Rumuolumini community, Chief Sunny Odum Ikpokwu has urged elders to give way for the youths to take over positions of leadership in the country.
Ikpokwu said this after receiving an award of excellence by the Productive Youth Initiative (PYI).
The CDC chairman who condemned the behavior of some youths, stated time has come for them to take over leadership in order to inject new ideas in the system.
The chairman recalled the impact of youths in the world and Nigeria in the past and appealed to the elders to retire and handover machinery of leadership to the young people.
He said he was overwhelmed by the award bestowed on him by the Productive Youth Initiative and promised to partner with the body on youth development.
The CDC chairman admonished the youths to be peaceful stating that he had planned programmes to empower repentant cultists.
Earlier in his speech, the President of Productive Youth Initiative, Sunday Sylvanus Mark said the CDC Chairman had brought honour and prestige to his community through selfless leadership, stressing that he had pushed the frontiers of youth activism to a higher level.
