Caretaker Set To Reposition NULGE

Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Rivers State chapter of National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE), Pastor Tobins Tamunotonye Profit has lambasted the immediate past state chairman of the union, Mr. Frank Ajuwon over his statement that he was illegally parading himself as the Caretaker Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the union.

Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Pastor Tobins described the statement by the former chairman as ridiculous, stressing that the election of the committee followed due process of the rules of the union.

The CTC chairman said his committee was instituted to reposition and restore NULGE to the part of progress, adding that he has the backing of all the 23 LGA chairman of the union.

According to him, the judgment of an Owerri Industrial Court, presided over by Justice Galadina had quashed and declared as null and void the attempt by the former leadership to elongate its tenure from 4 to 6 years.

The NULGE chairman added that the decision of the court has made it imperative for the holding a new election, hence his committee was appointed to organize an elections that will use in new executives for the state body. He alleged that the former executive under Comrade Frank Ajuwon wasted over 10 years without making any impact on the welfare of the union, and regretted that the entire executive of the body was pocketed by few individuals for selfish reasons.

Comrade Tamnotonye said the mandate of the committee is to conduct elections within three months explaining that the mandate may be extended to further three months where circumstance make it impossible to organize the elections.

He expressed the conviction that his committee will make appreciable impact to prove to detractors that the pasts years of the former leadership of the union was a colossal waste.

The CTC chairman said he will equally deploy the effectiveness of the organs of the union, to reconcile all aggrieved members, promising to restore the control of the union into the hands of members of the union, which he stated are solidly behind his appointment.
