Group Moves To Rebrand Rivers As Investors’ Haven
A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Rivers Peace Project (RPP) says it is determined to make Rivers State an investor’s paradise.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Television (RSTV), the group’s coordinator, John Egwim said they were worried by the demarketing of the state by irresponsible actions of some people, particularly the youth hence the idea to rebrand the state.
He said the Gov.Wike led administration had pursued programs that would foster peace and unity among various communities in a bid to make the state conducive for economic activities and wondered why some people would disrupt the peace process and paint Rivers State in bad light.
The project coordinator commended Governor Wike for establishing Operation Sting saying it was a clear effort to ensure that peace is restored to the state and also commended the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim for the “Our State, Our Responsibility” slogan aimed at sensitizing the citizens on the need to put their state above parochial interests.
The group presented a musical album titled “Investors Are Welcome to Rivers State” to the General Manger of RSTV, Pastor Dafini Gogo-Abbey.
The coordinator said the musical sound track was geared towards inviting investors to Rivers State and to assure Nigerians that the state is safe for investment and appealed to the management to play it in her station for the public to listen.
Responding, the General Manager of RSTV, Pastor Dafini Gogo-Abbey while appreciating the group’s visit deplored the attitude of some Rivers youth, who prefer to destroy than to build.
She said many youth neither respect elders nor leadership, and warned that irresponsible life would not lead them to anywhere.
She urged the Rivers Peace Project to take their message of peace to them.
