Taskforce On Street Trading, Illegal Markets Takes Off

The Rivers State Government has inaugurated as taskforce on street trading, illegal markets and motor parks.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Paulinus Nsirim said the taskforce would commence full operation in thirteen 13 zones within the state on Monday August 26, 2019.

The statement listed the zones as: Old Port Harcourt Township/Lagos/Station/UTC Bus Stops, Slaughter/Woji/Ogonigba, Flyover/Mile Market, Mile 3 Market/Ikoku/Building Materials, Rumuokoro Junction, Fruit Market/Garrison/Waterlines, Presidential Hotel/Rumuola and Rumuokwuta/Mgbuoba/Market/Location Junction.

Others are; Artillery/Rumuokwurusi/Eleme/Interchange/Oil Mill Market, Eliozu Junction Flyover/East-West Road, Choba/Uniport/East-West Road, Rumuolumeni/Rumuepirikom and Akpajo/Onne/Eleme/Refinery Road.

The statement advised all concerned to vacate the streets of Port Harcourt or face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has appointed Mr. Bright Amaewhule as Special assistant to the governor and co-ordinator, Task Force on Street Trading, illegal markets and motor parks.
