Stakeholders Resolve To Revive Gokana United, Stadium
Participants at the third Gokana football stakeholder’s summit have resolved to revive Gokana United Football Club and also reactivate the Gokana Township Stadium.
In a statement made available to The Vortex correspondent in Port Harcourt after the summit held at the Gberesaako Hall in Gokana recently, the summit deliberated on critical issues affecting the smooth running of football in Gokana kingdom.
It also stated that several resolutions were made during the summit, including the setting-up of the Gokana Contact and Implementation Committee with Ambassador Solomon Lah as Chairman and Martins Giadon as secretary, with a charge to immediately reach out to all sports enthusiasts and relevant authorities especially the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Paul Kobani on how to revive the Gokana United Football club and the fixing of the Township Stadium in the areas among others.
It was also gathered that the stakeholders agreed to merge the two factions of Gokana All Stars FC led by one Vasco and the one led by Stephen Damabel for the members to train together.
Chairman of the summit, Amb Solomon Lah described football as a Panacea for peace and development, and appealed to all sports loving sons and daughters in the area to come together and work as a team.
Amb. Lah disclosed plans to train the youths to stardom and ensure that they were engaged meaningfully by the state and national teams and competitions.
