RSG Urged To Restore Pilgrimage Sponsorship …Islamic Leader Hails Rivers Graduands In Egypt
A Moslem leader in Rivers State, Alhaji Sanni Okiri has appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike to restore the sponsorship of Moslems in the state for hajj to the Holy land.
Okiri who was a former Sole Administrator of Rivers State Moslem Board said the appeal has become necessary in order to alleviate the financial challenges people go trough in sponsoring themselves to Mecca and Jerusalem for pilgrimage in the state.
According to Okiri, the sponsoring Moslems and Christians on pilgrimage will benefit many people and help to engender peace in the state.
The Moslem leader urge for tolerance among Nigerians, adding that the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham should be a lesson to mankind.
He said that Sharia law is not all about cutting of hands but about good governance and rule of law and explained that if all Nigerians imbibe God’s laws, issues of violence and killings in the country will not exist.
On his part, the leader of Moslem community in the state and Vice President General, River State Council for Islamic Affairs Alhaji Alhaji Nasiri Uhor, has accused politician in Nigeria of promoting insecurity in the country.
He said, the spate of insecurity in the country can be stopped within twenty four hours if politician choose to stop promoting the crises in the country.
The Moslem leader stated there was no disconnect between the two major religions in the country, saying politicians create the situation of conflict to favour the interests.
In a related development, Alhaji Uhor has congratulated three Rivers Islamic Scholars who graduated from Islamic institute in Egypt.
The three Rivers indigene that were among 26 students from different countries that graduated at the Nigeria-America Islamic Mission (NAIM) School of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Cairo, Egypt.
Speaking as Special Guest at the graduation ceremony, Alhaji Uhor congratulated the graduands and urged them to build on what they had learned and also reciprocate the sacrifices of their parents as there was no better gift than the quality of education they had acquired.
He stressed the need for Muslims worldwide to invest massively in planned family education, saying “having a planned and well educated family no matter the size is the surest way out of the severe challenges of poverty, hunger, ignorance, disease and falling prey to dangerous unislamic doctrines currently ravaging the Muslim world”.
The Islamic leader who was accompanied by his wife, Hajia Hauwa and his son, Sa’eed, pointed out that although Allah the Almighty did not limit the number of children a family should have, but laid great emphasis on their adequate provision and proper education, adding that he also ordered child spacing as part of family planning.
“It is unislamic o have children who end up in the streets to be recruited by deviant organizations as foot soldiers against Islam, Muslims and the society at large’, he reiterated, and lauded the proprietor and staff of the school for dedication and professionalism.
Also speaking, the Defence Attaché to the Nigerian Embassy in Egypt, Brig. Gen. Lawal congratulated the graduands urging them to be good Ambassadors of Islam, their school and countries.
The three students who graduated include two sisters, hajia Rasheeda Umashi uhor, Malama Amina Etonwana Uhor who are daughters of the Rivers State Islamic leader and Vice president General, Rivers state Council for Islamic affairs, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor and Alhaji Dawud Azhiloluka Ideozu, all from Ahoada, Headquarters of Ahoada East local government area.
