Rivers Port Gears Up For NIPOSA Soccer Trophy

As the forthcoming Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) NIPOSA Games draw near, the Rivers Port Football team has intensified training to win the converted trophy of the tournament.

Speaking to our correspondent during a training session at the Port Harcourt Approved School Field in Borikiri, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Rivers Ports, Dr Nyong Offisong said with the preparation of the football team, he is optimistic that they win.

Offisong, who thanked the management for their encouragement assured that they would make them proud as they now have a better team than they had in the last edition.

He hinted that Team Rivers Port will lock horns with other Ports like Lagos Port Complex, Tin Can Island Port, Delta Ports, Calabar Ports, Onne/Ikpokiri Port and the Headquarters, Lagos Port.

During the training session which also was part of the 4th edition of Four-Nation tournament, Team A of mostly NPA players beat Team B 1-0 which was scored by Nonso Andrew while Destiny All Stars also won Selected Port Harcourt All Stars 1-0 through penalty by Miebaka Ogbogbo.

In his remarks, the Co-host of the tournament, Coach Miebaka Idadokima said the essence of the game was to keep the payers busy and prepare them for competitions, and hailed the skills exhibited by all the teams.

Also speaking, Coach Eric Fibian of Seaside All Stars said that there is improvement on the Rivers Port players and expressed confidence that they will play in the finals and win the converted cup in the football event at the games.
