Okochiri Monarch Tasks Ijaw Women On Unity

The Amayanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King Ateka Michael Tom, has promised to work with the Ijaw Waterfront Women Association in their effort to mobilize women for Ijaw unity.

King Ateke Tom, Sekuro Of Niger Delta who gave the assurance when the group paid him a courtesy visit at his Okochiri palace in Okrika local government area opined that the vision of the association is worthy of commendation as all ijaw sons and  daughters should be proud of their ethnic nationality.

Represented by the Chief of Staff of the palace, Chief Tamunokonbia Akaluogbo, the Okochiri monarch further commended the activities of the body since its inception in 2014, and enjoined them not to relent their efforts in agitating and fighting for the rights of every Ijaw citizens.

According to him, with support and encouragement, the group would take the Ijaw nation to greater heights, stressing that as Ijaw Waterfront Women, they should intensify all efforts in ensuring that their voice is heard and given its rightful place in the scheme of things in the country, state and local government area, and thanked them for the visit with an assurance that their next visit would be a celebration galore.

Earlier, the President of the organization, Sarah Gbelabo gave God the glory for the peaceful and successful coronation of King Ateke Micheal Tom as the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom and opined that since his coronation, the kingdom and the entire Okrika Clan had witnessed absolute peace.

Gbelabo, who described him as a peace builder called on the entire Warike nations and all Ijaws to support and pray for a peaceful reign, while requesting that they should be carried along in his empowerment and other programmes in the kingdom.

In her vote of thanks, the Coordinator of Ogu/Bolo chapter of Ijaw Waterfront Women Association, Charity Nangibo thanked the monarch for the warm reception and assured that they be part of the kingdom in all their activities.

Other dignitaries present during the visit include Chief Tamunonengiye-Ofori Stephen Ezekiel Oba and Chief Tamunotonye Kiri Of Chiri war canoe house of Okochiri Kingdom.
