Sports Philanthropist Partners Rivers FA On Grassroot Football Development

The Rivers State Football Association is forstering partnership with individuals to reposition football in the state. Already  sports philanthropist, Chief Ikenna Okafor is partnering with the Rivers State Football Association to revive grassroot football development in the state.

The State Football Association Chairman, Barr. Christopher Green disclosed this while briefing sports journalists at the FA Secretariat, in Port Harcourt.

The move was designed to restructure the proposed Rivers State Division One, Two and Three Leagues which had been in limbo for some time.

According to him, registration for the maiden edition of the championship tagged “Rivers State Keeves Championships Cup” is on-going at the FA Secretariat, while the tournament is slated to kick-off in September 2019.

He called on interested local clubsides in the state to register and showcase their football artistry as juicy prizes await winners at the championship.

Green further disclosed that the over-all winner of the championship will smile home with a mouth-watering sum of N700,000.00, and the runner-up will receive N500,000.00 while the sum of N300,000.00 will go to the third place winner.
