What Hopes For Amaechi, Cole, Akpabio, Oshiomhole …As Ministerial List Gets To Senate
As senate gets prepared to receive President Buhari’s ministerial nominees’ list this week, speculations are rife that Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Tonye Cole, Godswill Akpabio and Adams Oshiomhole may make the lists of nominee from the South-South.
Amaechi, the former Transportation Minister is said to have endeared himself to Buhari by his impressive performance and contributions to the APC, especially in the re-election of the president.
His associates in the South-South were confident that the president will reappoint him. For Tonye Cole, the APC Rivers Guber candidate in 2019 election, it is speculated that Amaechi has lobbied the president to appoint him as minister in order to compensate him for the loss he incurred in his failed bid to be governor.
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC has really been speculated to be considered for ministerial appointment for sundry reasons as some party chapters criticize his leadership style and want him out as chairman.
Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, who failed in his bid to be return to the senate for a second tenure, may be considered on account of his close relationship with President Buhari following his leaving the PDP for the APC.
Regarded by some Nigerians as a ‘political harlot,’ Akpabio’s alleged odd jobs for the APC and frolicking with the president, his supporters believe will land him a ministerial appointment.
Akpabio was one of the prominent Nigerians who visited President Buhari in London to commiserate with him in his sick-bed. As a minority leader of the PDP and a celebrated member of the party in the South-South, his joining the APC was somewhat controversial.
Hopefully, as senate receive the list which the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan said the Executive was working hard to presented, this week, the fate of Amaechi and others will be made known in due course.
