Foundation Empowers Muslims With Freezers, Generators, Others. Collins Barasimeye
No fewer than 64 Muslims in Rivers State received various empowerment items from Zakat and Sadaqo Foundation based in Lagos.
The items include Deep Freezers, Grinding Machines, Generators, Sewing Machines, Hair Dryers, Industrial Machines and Gas Cookers among others.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Royal Father of the day and Amanyanabo of Abuloma kingdom in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, King Bright Ateke Fiboinumama enjoined Muslim communities to maintain peace and co-existence for progress and prosperity.
King Fiboinumama, who is a retired Brigadier General, noted that the occasion is significant as government alone cannot provide jobs for the people and enjoined the beneficiaries to work hard to be self reliance and also create jobs for others to benefit from them.
The Abuloma monarch maintained that Rivers State is a peaceful state and that it behooves all to support the present administration no matter their tribes, religion and factions.
“Let us put hands together and assist the government and also to obey the laws of Rivers State”, he advised, and enjoined parents and guardians to advice their children and wards to shun cultism, gangstarism, kidnapping and all forms of norms inimical to the society.
King Fiboinumama also appealed to parents to call their children to order and support the State and the Federal Government to sustain peace.
In his welcome speech, the Muslim Leader and Vice President General of Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor thanked the foundation for contributing their quota to make people self reliant in consonance with the Holy Quoran.
Uhor who was also the Chairman of the occasion said the foundation had truly lifted the families from poverty as the body is playing its social and economic responsibilities, and further enjoined them to continue to be in love with their neighbors.
The leader thanked the Abuloma Monarch for being friendly with Muslims in the state and in his domain, and further charged them to reciprocate by being law abiding and be a guiding light for others to follow.
In their goodwill messages, the Director, Social Welfare in the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitations, Mr. Iminabo Robinson Fubara, the State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Apostle Stanley Dimkpa and Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Barr’s Young Ayotamuno who was represented by Joe Mgbor thanked the foundation for their concern to the less privileged in the society and advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the items for their livelihood and do same to others.
They also expressed delight that both Christians and Muslims preached on love they neighbors as themselves, and appealed to cultist and kidnappers to repent from their nefarious activities as CAN objective is to fine tune religions harmony, peace and living together in one accord as brothers, while calling on their Muslim brothers to assist the government in the areas of begging, lunatics and destitute on the streets of Port Harcourt and its environs.
In his speech, the Executive Director, Zakat and Sadaqa Foundation, Lagos, Prince Salayman Olagunju said the foundation champions to assist the less privileged in the society in line with Islam, as it is a voluntary institution of charity for Allays blessing and rewards, pointing out that as conscious Muslims, it is good to give part of their resources to the poor and the needy.
Prince Olagunju opined that Zakat foundation is not for the rich but interested in the less privileged of the society both Muslims and non-Muslims, disclosing they have carried out similar activities in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State and will go round other states in the south.
