ALEM Overseer Flays Tacit-Support For Herdsmen. Steve Okeke
The General Overseer of the Abundant Life Evangel Mission (ALEM) Rev. Eugene Ogu has decried the plan by the federal government to set up cattle colonies all over the country.
The clergyman frowned at what he called the tacit support of the Buhari administration to herdsmen by creating cattle settlements in the states of the federation.
Ogu said the Nigerian government was embarrassing citizens of the country and making the entire world to believe that all Nigerians are cattle rearers.
According to respected clergyman “we have our various professions and the federal government does not give states funds to start their business or profession. The federal government should not think that all Nigerians are fools”.
He described the plan as a wrong counsel that the government should have rejected in view of the violent tendencies that have been associated with the herdsmen all over the country and expressed worry that the government was attempting to force the establishment of cattle colonies on the states.
The General Overseer wondered why the government and other relevant authorities in the country have kept quiet while the killings have persisted and entire communities are being attacked and their lands repossessed by the herdsmen.
He accused the federal government of insincerity, stating the government cannot feign ignorance of the activities of the herdsmen.
Ogu regretted that many communities have been sacked from their ancestral homes due to the attacks of herdsmen stressing that not much is being done to rehabilitate residents of those communities displaced by the invading herdsmen.
