The Chairman, Rives State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V has expressed delight over the peace and development in Okrika and Okochiri Kingdom in particular since the enthronement of His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Michael Tom, as Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom.

King Douglas Jaja, who is also the Amanyanabo of Opobo kingdom made the remarks while speaking as Royal Father of the Day during the birthday celebration of King Ateke Tom, in Okochiri last Sunday.

He said the existing peace will have a multiplier effect to the kingdom and other Wakirike ethnic nations, saying that with a King like Ateke Michael Tom who had come to serve the people is the beginning of more good things and development to come to Okochiri kingdom.

The Opobo Monarch described him as a brother and simple man who touches the lives of the down trodden, stressing that he deserved the honour and congratulated him on behalf of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Also speaking on behalf of the Supreme Council of Wakirike Traditional Rulers, the Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo local government area, His Majesty, King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo, Loko IX, said the array of traditional rulers and other dignitaries from all walks of life at the birthday celebration had shown that the people of Niger Delta, Rivers State and Nigeria loved him, adding that the people loved him as a philanthropist and a great man whom God had blessed, and likened his kingship to that of David in the Bible who was a strong man.

King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo Loko IX opined that the Wakirike nation is proud of him and thanked him for his efforts in promoting education and prayed God to continue to protect him and bless his reign.

In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion and former Minister for Transport, Dr. Abiye Precious Sekibo said the people of Wakirike Bese and Okochiri kingdom are happy for the colorful gathering of who is who in Rivers State including the Traditional Rulers to the birthday celebration of the Okochiri monarch.

Sekibo noted that Okochiri is a land of peace and development as the people have embraced the peace, and thanked all for coming to celebrate with their brother, that it is the lords doing and it is beautiful in our eyes as they join him celebrate the grace of the family and the people of Okochiri kingdom.

Highlights of the celebration included were presentation of sewing machines to women and award of scholarships to students in tertiary institutions.
