Degbam, Dewell Sign To End Crisis In Emohua
Restoration of peace in Ibaa and Obele Communities in Emohua Local Government Area may be achieved soon following the signing of Peace agreement between the two major warring cult groups; Degbam and Dewell in the communities.
According to the reports, the two warring cult groups who have been engaged in various acts of reprisal attacks on each other and other residents of the areas finally agreed to maintain the peace and stop all acts of violence and attacks in the communities following moves by prominent citizens of the communities.
Speaking at the ceremony held in Ibaa community, a prominent son of the area and the immediate past Commissioner for Housing in the State, Chief Chinedu Tasie lauded the reconciliation initiatives signed by the cult groups, stressing that with the move, peace and development will return to the communities.
He warned the groups not to resort to further violence to avoid being arrested by security agents, warning that the state government has threatened to stop development efforts in any community where cult violence persists.
The event which was witnessed by representatives of security agencies including the Nigerian Army, the Police and State Security Service (DSS), was also attended by the Chairman of Emohua LGA, Mr. Thom Alaezi and other prominent citizens of the area.
Ibaa and Obele communities have been involved in series of cult violence in the past two years resultingin many of the residents relocating to nearby communities to escape the activities of the warring cult groups.
