Gov’s Olive Branch, Not License For Mischief –Monarch
The monarch of Oha Okporo Okwurusi, Eze Morgan Amadi says Governor Wike’s peace overture to the opposition should not be misconstrued as weakness or a license for politicians to indulge in mischief.
Eze Amadi came out with this at the sidelines of a thanksgiving service organized by Evo Assembly to celebrate Governor Wike’s reelection last week in Port Harcourt.
His comments came on the heels of report credited to Andrew Uchendu, senator representing Rivers East Senatorial district that Wike’s olive branch was not genuine as he had not done anything concrete to that effect.
The Oha Okporo Okwurusi Paramount ruler condemned Uchedu’s alleged statement that Wike’s commission of inquiry calling for prosecution of those who worked under former Governor Amaechi for allegedly mismanaging funds meant for a syringe factory shows that the governor was not serious with the peace overture.
“Governor Wike’s olive branch to the opposition does not mean that Rivers citizens who allegedly mismanaged funds meant for development should not be prosecuted if found guilty”, Eze Amadi said.
He insisted that the Rivers State governor meant well by inviting every stakeholder to join hands with him to move the state forward.
“People should not misconstrue this to mean something else”, he said.
