Organising Scribes Honour Nine Retirees

Organizing Secretaries of Rivers State Sport Council held a send forth ceremony for nine of its retirees who have served the council meritoriously.

Those honoured include former Directors of the council, Hon. Daobu Harvest Harry, Hon. Nathaniel Piaro and Hon Christopher Fubara.

Others are Mr. Benjamin Agino-Obu, Mr. C. J. Ebeleogu, Mr. Kala-Alali Dede, Mr. Basil Wifa, Ben Stowe and Brown Jack.

In her goodwill message during the ceremony held at the Council’s Conference Hall in Port Harcourt, the Acting Director of Rivers State Sports Council, Mrs. Mildred Hart lauded the retirees for setting a platform for others to follow and for taking the council to greater heights.

Hart who described them as gallant sportsmen who also thanked the organizing secretaries for dimming it fit to honour their own that have served the council diligently and retired with dignity.

The Director thanked God for making the day a reality and prayed that he also helped others to retire meritoriously as good ambassadors of the council.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Christopher Chioma said although the occasion was long over-due, the celebrants needed all accolade because they paid their prize in the council, as men of honour.

Responding, Hon. Daobu Harry, Hon. Christopher Fabara, Hon. Nathaniel Piaro and Basil Wifa thanked the organizers of the ceremony for the honour done them and enjoined all to be hardworking, dedicated, be their brothers keepers, give necessary support to the management, put more efforts in their careers and ensure they take Rivers State to the first position in National Sports Festivals.

They also advised them to go for professional courses in their sporting careers, stop petition writing, go to the grassroot and fish out budden talents for grooming into stardom, be punctual in service and promised that they are ready and willing to give them their wealth of experience whenever they need their assistance.

Earlier, the Head of Department, Organizing, Mrs. Stella Kingoli said the send forth ceremony was to honour the deserving senior citizens who served and retired meritoriously from the Department of Organizing, pointing out that the day marks a milestone in their collective efforts towards recognizing integrity and hard work.

According to Kingoli, the contribution of the retirees had in no small way placed the sports council on its proper pedestal and also help fast-track its growth and development, and assured that they would continue to remember and reference them as their contributions are priceless assets to them.
