Party Chieftain Canvasses For Riverine Governor In 2023
A chieftain in Rivers politics and one-time Rivers State House of Assembly aspirant for Akuku-Toru Constituency II, under the platform of Accord Party, Hon Sokari Odimabo has advocated for a Riverine Governor in 2023 elections.
Odimabo who barred his mind during a chat with The Vortex correspondent in Port Harcourt said it is long overdue for Riverine politicians to close ranks, no matter their political affiliations and brain storm on how to produce a formidable governorship candidate from the riverine area of the state.
He noted that the people have been denied the opportunity to produce a Riverine governor due to godfather endorsement, self-fish ambition or not being properly guided in the political terrain, stating that it is time for the people to start the preparation inorder to bring out a candidate that will be generally accepted even at the grassroot.
Odimabo opined that the riverine people will no longer play second fiddle, stressing that politicians with integrity abound in Riverine Local Government Areas and time has come to show case them.
“It is high-time Riverine communities look inward and support any governorship aspirant from the Riverine local Government Areas with total support and acceptability by the masses at the grassroot communities”, Odimabo asserted.
According to him, there are many experienced, exposed people of impeccable characters who can be sellable to the people of the state for their support, pointing out that the candidate could come from any political party.
The chieftain called on the elite to mobilize their people for a governorship candidate from Riverine communities and called on the Riverine politicians to form a coalition, irrespective of their political affiliation and come out with a formidable force for a Riverine Governorship candidate in the 2023 elections in the state.
