Defamation: Abe Threatens To Sue Amaechi’s Aide

Senator Magnus Nsei Abe has threatened to sue an aide of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Chukwuemeke Eze to court over an alleged defamatory statement.

Abe in a statement by his media aide, Parry Benson, said Eze had been carrying campaigns of calumny against him through misinformation about the state of APC in Rivers State.

One of such misinformation, Abe said, was a statement Eze published in a national daily alleging that he and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike were working together to cause confusion in Rivers APC.

Eze according to the statement, alleged that the unfolding drama in Rivers state had exposed the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom EzeNwo Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the law marker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe, a governorship aspirant on APC’s platform, as working together to cause problem in Rivers APC.

Rather than being a part of the confusion in Rivers APC, Abe stressed in the statement, that the entire nation was aware there is crisis in several political parties and several state chapters of the APC in Nigeria.

“But rather than pursue civilized options of dialogue and reconciliation which would have resolved the Rivers crisis before it ballooned out of proportion, political mercenaries and conflict entrepreneurs like Chief Eze, who have no ward or polling unit in Rivers state, have continually misled the Minister of Transportation into the false belief that he was a superman and every contrary voice in the party must be crushed”, Abe said.

Abe argued that the decision to ignore party members who were summarily barred by the Minister of Transportation from taking part in the party congresses was not a decision taken by Governor Wike and wondered why people should insinuate that he and the governor were working to set APC in confusion.

Abe stated that; “in the light of this continued campaign of blackmail and calumny, I have instructed my lawyers to take out a writ of libel against Chief Eze and his sponsors. The time has come for him to step out and defend these allegations in the court of law, even though Nigerians know that Eze and his sponsors have no respect for the courts”.
